General objectives

To develop

interdisciplinary debates and discussions in order to better understand the terminological ambiguities between the concepts of graffiti and street art from different sciences perspectives and multifaceted approaches;

 
To compare

different methodological approaches in various sciences and disciplines interested in studying this subculture;

 
To analyze

the purpose of investigating the phenomenon of graffiti and street art in the context of multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity;

To contribute

to the scientific consolidation of graffiti and street art subculture (definitions, methods, place in local economies, in relation to social and landscape etc.).

Workshops

Workshop on the Relationships between Urban Art and Territories

The first GRAFSTART Workshop, titled “Relationships between Urban Art and Territories,” took place online on July 5th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CET.

Participants included Loreta Cercleux, Patrycja Grzyś, Paulina Tobiasz-Lis, and Tamar Babuadze.

The main topic of discussion was “What do graffiti and street art bring to territories?” This led to discussions about the perceptions of graffiti and street art in various territories and generated ideas for the next thematic workshop, which will focus on graffiti and street art narratives.
